Before the Covid-19 pandemic started a few months ago, preparation for your child’s dental appointment was fairly straightforward. Your emergency dentist for kids in Katy, Dr. A, would simply wash his hands, put on a new pair of gloves, and grab a mask, ensuring he was ready to care for your loved one’s smile. Many things have certainly changed since then, but the importance of maintaining your child’s oral health hasn’t. At Happy Chompers Pediatric Dentistry, we’ve implemented some new protocols to enable everyone—patients and team members alike—to stay healthy throughout these turbulent times.

Daily Health Checks

Before we allow a patient into our practice, we use a touchless thermometer to check their temperature. We also ask whether the patient has experienced any unusual symptoms associated with the coronavirus. Not only are we checking each patient, but we are also following the same protocol for each team member at the beginning of every day. That way, you know that your child’s risk of exposure is being kept to a minimum.

Deep Cleaning

Although we always sanitize our instruments in between each patient’s visit, we now take the time to sanitize and clean every surface of the common areas, like the operatories, more than before. On a daily basis, we also perform a much deeper cleaning of these and other office spaces in our practice to reduce any potential spread of germs.

Social Distancing

At Happy Chompers Pediatric Dentistry, we fully support and practice social distancing as much as possible, which is why we’ve adjusted some small but important steps in our usual process. For instance, we ask that you check in remotely from your car. When we are ready for your child’s appointment, we’ll reach out to you, and quickly walk them straight back. In addition, we’ve restricted appointments to allow only one family in our office at a time

Health and Safety Equipment

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Covid-19 is spread through droplets in the air. That’s why we have added medical grade HEPA air filtration units throughout the office to rid the air of harmful germs. In addition, our team will be wearing additional personal protective equipment (PPE) including N95 masks, face shields, gowns, and hair caps. We ask that you tell your child about these additional pieces of PPE so that they won’t be alarmed when they see us.

Although many parts of life are uncertain right now, we want your child’s smile and health to remain strong through thick and thin. You can feel confident that your loved one is truly in a safe environment when you come to your pediatric dentist in Katy and enjoy some peace of mind.
