Every Child is Welcome

At Happy Chompers Pediatric Dentistry, we believe that every child deserves to have a happy, healthy smile, but for some, getting dental treatment can be quite challenging because of special needs. Some of these patients can struggle to independently perform daily oral hygiene that’s needed to avoid dental problems, while others may have trouble understanding the importance of both in-office and at-home oral care. No matter what your child’s needs might be, we will work patiently with them and do what we can to make sure they are comfortable and able to receive necessary care with special needs dentistry in Katy, TX.

How We Make Dental Visits Less Stressful for Your Child

When approaching a special needs appointment, we make sure that we can devote our attention and time exclusively to your child. We adapt and make accommodations where we can to help them feel comfortable. If needed, we can slow down the pace of the appointment so that your child doesn’t become overwhelmed. In addition, we will try to have the same team members work with them so that they recognize familiar, friendly faces whenever they visit our dental office. Our team can also administer sedation to help keep your child calm and cooperative during their appointments.

How You Can Prepare for Their Appointment

Before you arrive for your child’s dental appointment, there are things you can do to make sure it goes as smoothly as possible. Make sure that our dental office is aware of their special needs in advance. Also, take the time to explain to your child what will happen at their appointment well before you come. That way, they will be less likely to feel surprised or overly stressed at the dental office. In addition, if they have a preferred toy or coping mechanism, such as listening to music, certainly feel free to bring it to their appointment.
